Hampshire and Southern Brave captain, James Vince, has been retained after winning the inaugural men’s competition last year.

He scored 229 runs of a total of 177 balls in nine innings, the third most runs in the men’s tournament, and recorded two half-centuries – joint third with Southern Brave teammate Quinton de Kock.

De Kock himself has not been retained, but the Brave could use their one ‘right-to-match’ card, similar to the IPL, to sign the South African keeper-batter, providing they can match the salary that the other team has tried to sign him at.

Tim David, who played two games for the Brave last year, has also been retained.

He scored 15 runs off just six balls, and, perhaps most memorably, ran out Liam Livingstone with a direct hit from the boundary in the final at Lord’s – a moment which turned the match in favour of the Brave.

Earlier in February, the Singaporean-born David earned a ₹8.25 crore (£810,000) IPL contract with the Mumbai Indians, and has gained a reputation for being one of the most destructive middle-order batters in world cricket.

Australian Marcus Stoinis has also been retained, despite missing last year’s competition, as well as new Hampshire signing Ross Whiteley.

Whiteley was the Brave men's fourth leading run scorer asd he racked up 133 runs at an average of 33 with an impressive strike rate of 145.

Sussex’s Tymal Mills, Chris Jordan and George Garton, along with Warwickshire’s Alex Davies and Jake Lintottare also stayin with Southern Brave, whilst Hampshire's Liam Dawson has been released.

Young Hampshire leg spinner Mason Crane has also been retained by London Spirit which is headed-up by former Hampshire captain Shane Warne.

Fast bowler Brad Wheal also keeps his place in the side, but Chris Wood, who also played for the Spirit last year, has been released and will be in the draft next month.
