Hampshire Under-17s Edge Closer Towards Quarter-Finals

Hampshire Under-17s will qualify for the quarter-finals of two prestigious ECB junior age group competitions if they beat Wales next week

Straight wins over Gloucestershire, Devon and Somerset have put Hampshire into top place in their Royal London 50-over Cup group, but they need to beat Wales on the The Ageas Bowl Nursery Ground on Monday, 10.45 to clinch a place in the quarter-finals, writes Mike Vimpany.

Similarly, they must also defeat the young Welshmen over two days, starting at Basingstoke & North Hants on Tuesday (11am), to reach the last eight of the Under-17 County Championships.

They take a slender one-point lead into the May’s Bounty group decider, having beaten Somerset on first innings in their latest Under-17 match at Taunton Vale, where Felix Organ celebrated a second consecutive Championship century.

Organ hit 122, having scored 121 in the previous high scoring drawn match with Devon.
