T&T Red Force were put into bat first by the visitors in Saturday’s (3rd Feb) match, which marked the start of Hampshire’s second match of their campaign in the Caribbean Super50 competition.

Hampshire’s seamers were greeted out in the middle by West Indian ODI opener Evin Lewis who built the hosts to a positive start before his opening partner, Webster (27), was grabbed in the field by Brad Taylor from the bowling of Chris Wood (1-50) to get the break through at 66-1.

Opener, Lewis (51), was dismissed at 86-2, however Red Force kept the red-hot momentum flowing with a 95-run partnership added between Amir Jangoo (49) & Jason Mohammed (62), both keen to take the game into their own hands, before Hampshire quicks Edwards (2-62) and Wheal (3-42) interrupted the hosts’ dominance.

T&T Red Force finished their 50 overs on 283-8, with Brad Wheal being the pick of the bowlers for Hampshire after his three wickets were well worked for, conceding only 42 runs from his 10 overs. Hampshire’s other bowlers shared the wickets around with some good spells of bowling.

The visitors looked to take the fight to T&T early, with Dickinson (21) batting in true Dickinson style by adding two sixes to the scoreboard, heating up the strike rate before being stumped by Ramdin’s quick hands off Khary Pierre’s (3-43) left-arm orthodox spin.

From being 43-1, left-handed duo Tom Alsop (49) & Jimmy Adams (44) steadied the ship as they put on a 65-run partnership to heighten Hampshire’s hopes of victory.

However, once Alsop’s wicket was taken by Webster (1-34), Hampshire’s middle-order were quickly dismissed by Sunil Narine, showcasing his world-famous white-ball experience, taking 3 wickets from his 10 overs for just 22 runs.

Adams’ side were left 75-runs behind when their final wicket fell, leaving Brad Taylor unbeaten on 35*.

Meanwhile, Hampshire prepare for their next game, which see’s the English county take on Marooners CCC at the famous Kensington Oval in Barbados today (5th Feb) at 2pm GMT-4 (6pm GMT).

Marooners faced T&T Red Force in their previous Super50 match, where Marooners were bowled out for a mere 101 from 25.4 overs in their innings before T&T chased the total in just 11.2 overs, only losing one wicket.

Next match could see a promising opportunity for Hampshire’s young guns who have already shown positive contributions to Hampshire’s first two fixtures including: Weatherley’s 51 & McManus’ 47 v Barbados, as well as Wheal’s 3-42, Alsop’s 49 & Taylor’s 35* with 1-41 v T&T.
