International Look Back: Hardik Pandya's all-round show help India demolish England at the The Ageas Bowl

Hardik Pandya's sensational all-round performance gave India an edge over England in the first T20I as he became the only Indian to score a half-century and take four wickets in the same game

England visit The Ageas Bowl twice in 2023 - with England Women facing Australia in an Ashes ODI in July and England Men facing New Zealand in an ODI of their own in September - and tickets for both fixtures went on sale recently.

To mark the on-sale, we're looking back at impressive individual performances in international fixtures at The Ageas Bowl.

In 2022, The Ageas Bowl was chosen as the venue for the 1st T20I Match between England and India to mark the start of India's white-ball tour to England before the T20 World Cup.

Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has repeatedly proven to his critics why he is considered the best in the business.

His white ball numbers speak for themselves, as he has amassed 1271 runs in 87 matches with a strike rate of 142 while taking 69 wickets with the ball.

Having won the toss and choosing to bat, India showed intent from the beginning as the openers went berserk, scoring at the rate of 12 RPO in the powerplay before Moeen Ali got the better of Rohit Sharma 24(14) as he nicked one to the keeper.

Deepak Hooda, 33(17), and Ishan Kishan 8(10) followed the trend as they got out to Chris Jordan and Moeen Ali respectively, while trying to keep up with the run rate.

In came Hardik Pandya, who scored his first-ever T20I fifty in 30 balls to help India achieve a massive 198/8 in 20 overs.

Chasing 199, England lost Captain Jos Buttler 0(1) for a golden duck as he nicked an outswinger from Bhuveneshwar Kumar.

Bowling his first over of the match, Hardik struck twice, removing Dawid Malan 21(14) and Liam Livingstone 0(3).

Later, he got the better of Jason Roy 4(16) with the first ball after the powerplay.

However, Moeen Ali and Harry Brooks added 61 for the fifth wicket in six overs to keep England's hopes alive, but Leg spinner Yuzivendra Chahal (2-32) removed both of them in the space of five balls to bring down curtains for England.

After this sensational performance, Hardik was awarded the Player of the match as he became the first Indian and 12th overall player to score a 50 and take four wickets in a game.
