James Vince Finishes Positive Big Bash Stint

Vince and Liam Dawson will both be a part of England’s T20 tour to the West Indies

Hampshire Captain James Vince has finished another positive stint in the Big Bash League with the Sydney Sixers.

Vince featured in eight matches for the magenta men during the 2021/22 season, scoring 144 runs at an average of 20.

Vince produced his top score in the competition - 44, which included six boundaries - in the Sixers' opening night fixture against the Melbourne Stars.

The innings was part of a 90-run opening stand with Josh Phillipe. The Stars were then dismissed for only 61, handing the Sixers a 152-run win to commence the defence of their title.

The Sixers' opening partnership of Vince and Josh Phillipe has proved one of the most explosive in the competition and the duo helped power the Sixers into a great position to win the BBL for the third time in a row. Sixers currently sit second in the table having won six out of their nine matches.

In last year’s edition of the Big Bash, Vince was one of the standout players, finishing as the second leading run scorer just behind fellow Englishman Alex Hales. Vince and Phillipe combined for over 1,000 runs throughout last year's edition of the competition.

Vince’s will now have to support his side from afar as the Hampshire skipper leaves to prepare for England’s T20 tour of the West Indies.

Vince and Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson will both be a part of England’s T20 tour to the West Indies, the five-match series set to start January 22nd and finish on the 30th, with all the fixtures being played in Barbados.
