Match Preview: Surrey v Hampshire, Vitality CC
A 13-player Hampshire squad will travel to The Kia Oval to take on Surrey in the Vitality County Championship
Despite a small injury scare before the turn of the new year, James Vince is continuing to impress in his latest excursion down under.
After a relatively staggered start, the Hampshire skipper is ramping up the heat in Australia as his average creeps up towards the thirty mark.
Vince received a deserved player of the match award for his 41 (26) yesterday morning, a knock that solidified second spot for the Sydney Sixers in this year’s Big Bash League, one place behind the Melbourne Stars.
Arriving at the crease with his team needing another 74 runs from just over eight overs, Vince’s innings at a strike rate of 158 was just what the Sixers required to get their fourth win from six games.
Scores of 39 and 22 against Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers respectively, have also been notched up over the festive period as Vince will return to Hampshire in hot form having played a full winter of cricket.
His tournament impact has not only been noted in Australia, Vince’s Msanzi Super League side, Paarl Rocks were crowned champions of the South African tournament for the first time in their history.
