Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson has put pen-to-paper on a long-term contract extension that will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2019 season.

Dawson’s current deal, signed back in 2014, was due to expire at the end of next year but the 26-year-old has elected to make an extended commitment to the club for the next three seasons.

It’s very pleasing to sign a new three year contract here at Hampshire. The club have shown faith in me which is great and having been here since I was 10 years old, to sign a new long-term deal is great.

It’s an exciting time for the club at the minute and all of the guys are looking forward to the new season. Hopefully with the squad that we’ll have next year, we can really push on in all formats - I’m really hoping to make a huge contribution, not just next season but for the next three years.

The Wiltshire-born all-rounder is a proud product of the Hampshire Academy after joining the County’s ranks 16 years ago at U11 level.

Since making his First XI debut back in 2007, Dawson has continued to be a prominent member of the side, and he enjoyed one of his best seasons with Hampshire this year, totalling more than 1,300 runs at an average of 45.19 whilst also claiming 47 wickets across all formats.

The left-armer and middle-order batsman was also awarded his first England cap this summer, claiming 3-24 on debut in England’s eight-wicket IT20 victory over Sri Lanka at the The Ageas Bowl in July.

Since collecting his first cap, Dawson has also made his ODI debut, as well as featuring in England’s victorious 50-over touring party of Bangladesh earlier this month.
