Mascarenhas Appointed New Zealand Bowling Coach

The 37-year old will return to the The Ageas Bowl this summer!

Former Hampshire captain Dimi Mascarenhas will return to the The Ageas Bowl this Summer after being appointed the New Zealand Cricket Bowling Coach for their tour to England.

The 37-year old will replace the current BLACKCAPS Bowling Coach Shane Bond who will finish with the team at the end of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015.

I came to New Zealand with high ambitions for my coaching so to achieve a position like this is hugely satisfying and I look forward to adding value to the BLACKCAPS bowling unit to ensure they remain one of the best teams in the world. I am newly out of the scene there as a player and I know most of the guys in the current team very well. The new guys I have played a lot with in county cricket and I know all the grounds we are playing at intimately so those factors will be useful in terms of the scouting and bowling plans.

Dimi Mascarenhas, New Zealand Cricket Bowling Coach

Mascarenhas, who enjoyed 18 seasons with Hampshire after making his debut for the Club in 1996, is currently the head coach of the SBS Otago Volts in New Zealand.

The move means Mascarenhas will return to the The Ageas Bowl when England face New Zealand in the Royal London One-Day International at the home of Hampshire Cricket on Sunday 14th June.

Tickets for the match are available to purchase via the The Ageas Bowl’s online ticketing website, over the phone on 0844 847 1863, or in person at the The Ageas Bowl’s Ticketing and Membership Office via normal working hours.
