Hampshire Announce Squad for Durham Trip

Full match preview of Hampshire's Specsavers County Championship match against Durham at Emirates Riverside

MATCH PREVIEW

Durham v Hampshire

Specsavers County Championship Division One

 Sunday 3 – Weds 6 July (11:00 - 18:00)

Emirates Riverside

Hampshire will be hoping to kick-start their season with a first away Specsavers County Championship win of the season, when they face Durham at the Emirates Riverside.

Hampshire Squad:

Hampshire are without James Vince and Liam Dawson - the pair could feature in England’s NatWest International T20 against Sri Lanka at the The Ageas Bowl on Tuesday. Adam Wheater, who hit an impressive century for the Second XI this week and 19-year old Joe Weatherley are named in the 14-man squad whilst seamers James Tomlinson and Gareth Andrew will also make the trip to Durham.

The Opposition:

24-year old left-hander Keaton Jennings is the division’s leading runs-scorer with impressive 738 runs at an average of 82 from seven matches. Experienced seamers Chris Rushworth and Graeme Onions are likely to be the major part of their bowling attack whilst all-rounder Scott Borthwick is certainly one to watch.

Recent Form:

Hampshire are bottom of Division One after seven Specsavers County Championship matches, but Will Smith’s side could significantly close the gap or even leapfrog eighth placed Surrey with a positive result at Emirates Riverside.

Paul Collingwood’s Durham sit in fourth place in Division One after an unbeaten run of seven matches with two victories.

Did You Know?

While we're not getting the weight of runs, everyone seems to be in a good place. We need to make sure that mentally we're all striving for big scores. It seems a long time ago that I was at Durham, but we'll go up there full of confidence that we can put in a performance there like we did last year. It's going be a good challenge but one we're well capable of coming through.
