Match Preview: England v Australia at The Ageas Bowl

The home of Hampshire Cricket set to host first ODI of the Royal London One-Day series

The Ageas Bowl hosts the first fixture of the Royal London One-Day Series between England and Australia in what should be an excellent contest on Thursday 3rd September.

The last time these two sides met at the The Ageas Bowl was back in 2013, with Australia emerging victorious by 49 runs and it was Shane Watson who featured prominently for the visitors, scoring an excellent 143.

However England have enjoyed a successful summer against their counterparts so far, having regained the Ashes in this year’s emphatic 3-2 test-series win.

Ben Stokes was an important part of that 2015 urn-winning side and he was also the key-player for England last time out claiming impressive figures of 5-61 with ball. The all-rounder looks set to feature once again after being named in the home-side’s 14-man squad which is led by Eoin Morgan.

Watson also returns with Australia after being included in their squad which is led by skipper Steve Smith.

The tourists went on to secure the previous five-match ODI series 2-1, but Eoin Morgan’s side will be looking for revenge this year when elite international cricket features once again at the ground.
