Match Preview: Gloucestershire v Hampshire - Royal London One-Day Cup

Squad news ahead of Wednesday's quarter-final clash at Bristol

Hampshire face Gloucestershire in this year’s Royal London One-Day Cup quarter-final stage and travel to Bristol on Wednesday knowing a victory will take them just two wins away from being crowned competition champions.

James Vince’s side advanced in third place in Group B after their final fixture against Nottinghamshire was abandoned due to rain.

Hampshire are also the only county still in with a chance of winning both limited overs competitions having reached an unprecedented sixth finals day in the NatWest T20 Blast to accompany reaching Wednesday’s knock-out fixture.

Hampshire Squad:

Hampshire name an unchanged 14-man squad for the away quarter-final clash.

Mason Crane, Joe Gatting and Gareth Berg are all included once again in addition to the final eleven that faced Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge last week.

The Opposition:

Gloucestershire have been in impressive form in this year’s 50-over competition, earning a second place finish in Group A to see them pick up a home quarter-final tie.

Michael Klinger’s side narrowly missed out on top-spot after they fell to defeat against Surrey in their final group game and they will be looking to reach their first competitive semi-final since 2009 with a win on Wednesday.

The right-hander is also likely to be the danger-man for the home-side and he currently tops the 2015 List-A batting averages with an exceptional average of 102.33.

What The Team Say:

Hampshire all-rounder Liam Dawson: ‘I think Gloucestershire are a well-drilled outfit and when we’ve been there before we’ve perhaps underestimated them a bit as a side – that’s something that we’re not going to do this time.

‘We know that if we play well we should beat them and as long as we’re on our game and put in a good performance we should do well. There’s a Lord’s final on the line which is an unbelievable day out so we’ll make sure we’re switched on and hopefully take some confident heading into (NatWest T20 Blast) finals at the weekend.’

Hampshire Squad:

Michael Carberry, Jimmy Adams, Adam Wheater, James Vince (c), Liam Dawson, Sean Ervine, Will Smith, Joe Gatting, Gareth Berg, Chris Wood, Yasir Arafat, Danny Briggs, Mason Crane, Fidel Edwards.

Additional Information:

The winner will face either Essex Eagles or Yorkshire Vikings in the semi-finals, with the match to be played away on the 6th or 7th September.
