Match Preview: Hampshire v Nottinghamshire - Specsavers County Championship

The Specsavers County Championship returns this weekend as Hampshire take on Nottinghamshire at the The Ageas Bowl

Hampshire return to Specsavers County Championship action for the first time in 52 days as they face Nottinghamshire at the The Ageas Bowl, beginning on Sunday.

Hampshire Squad:

A 13-man squad has been named for this week’s four-day fixture, with Jimmy Adams and Ian Holland returning to the fold following the conclusion of the Vitality Blast campaign.

Pace duo Kyle Abbott and Fidel Edwards are also included alongside Dale Steyn who is set to make his second first-class appearance for James Vince’s side.

Seamer Ryan Stevenson is also included in the 13 and would make his first County Championship appearance since September 2015 if included in the final XI on Sunday.

The Opposition:

Nottinghamshire have enjoyed a positive Specsavers County Championship campaign so far this year, claiming four wins from their nine matches so far to sit third in the table.

Their last outing in this competition came back in July where they fell to a comprehensive innings-defeat against title contenders Surrey at Trent Bridge - Steven Mullaney’s side will be hoping for a better performance in between the white-ball break this time around.

The return of top-order batsman Chris Nash is a boost, but Tom Moores and England seamer Jake Ball remain side-lined and will be unavailable.
