Pair have committed to Hampshire for the next two years
Young Hampshire duo Lewis McManus and Tom Alsop have signed new deals, keeping them at the The Ageas Bowl until the end of the 2017 season.
The contracts of McManus and Alsop were due to expire at the end of the 2016 season, but the pair have now committed to Hampshire for the next two years.
Both Lewis and Tom have come through the ranks at Hampshire and developed into very promising young cricketers. Their ambition will be to push for a permanent place in the first-team and we are looking forward to seeing how they progress over the next two years.

Wicketkeeper-batsman McManus came through the ranks from the Hampshire Academy and has regularly impressed both behind the stumps and with the bat for the Second XI. The 20-year old received high praise during his second first-team appearance this season, hitting a resilient unbeaten half-century to steer Hampshire to an important LV= County Championship draw against Durham at the The Ageas Bowl in July.
I’m really pleased to be staying here at Hampshire – it’s a great environment to be in and I feel I’ve built strong relationships with both the both players and the coaches. Playing the two games in the first-team this year was a great experience and it has highlight the areas of my game I’d like to improve to hopefully play more first-team cricket over the next couple of years

19-year old Alsop, who also graduated through Hampshire’s youth system, made his first-class debut for the club at the end of the 2014 season and featured in the final game of the season at Cardiff which saw Hants secure promotion.
Hampshire Cricket is an exciting place at the moment and I’m over the moon to have signed a new deal. I just need to keep scoring runs in the Second XI and hopefully a chance will come for me to establish a place in the first-team

The 2015 season has seen the batsman impress for the Hampshire Second XI and the England U19s – hitting a half-century against Australia U19s in the Youth Test at Chester-le-Street.
