National Final For Hampshire's Disability Team

Win over Lancs sets up re-match with Shropshire

Hampshire's disability team hope to follow up their T20 success by reclaiming the national 40 over championship at Wolverhampton Cricket Club.

After winning the trophy in 2012, the national championship was suspended for 2 years to enable counties to focus on developing their grassroots programmes to increase player numbers.

Shropshire were down and out in the 2015 semi-final at 53 for 5, but heavy rain saw the match abandoned and Hampshire lost in the bowl out.

Triumph in the 2016 group stages was followed by a convincing win over Lancashire despite missing several of their England players due to a fixture clash. Will Flynn, of Hursley Park CC and England Lions Physical Disability Squad, ended unbeaten on 54 at a run a ball as Hampshire romped home by 8 wickets with 17.3 overs to spare. Henry Schooling (29 not out) kept Flynn company after Hartley Wintney pair Dan Scott (3 wickets) and Ben Hyde (2 wickets) had skittled Lancs for just 100.

Hampshire will again be missing England trio Hugo Hammond, Josh Mead and Dan Reynaldo due to another fixture clash but can still field a strong line-up in Sunday's final:

Alex Hammond (c), Martin Williams (wk), Will Flynn, James Gunner, Ashley Humber, Ben Hyde, Corie Mapp, Jack McDonagh, Tom Milward, Henry Schooling, Dan Scott.

Score updates will appear under the #HantsDisCricket hashtag.

The weather is looking good for the weekend so hopefully no bowl off this year! Also it looks like Mike Gatting will be coming along to watch so a chance to impress.
