Michael Carberry (148*) - Hampshire v Scottish Saltires, Clydesdale Bank 40 - 4th June 2012

Michael Carberry - on this day in 2012 - lead the charge as Hampshire eased past the Scottish Saltires at the The Ageas Bowl in the group stages of the Clydesdale Bank 40.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first. The Saltires' top order all got starts but wickets fell regularly (Mascarenhas 2-32, Ervine 2-23 & Briggs 3-35) and as the fortieth over was completed Scotland had posted 230-9.

Hampshire made a slow start to their reply, losing Adams (0) and Vince (5) cheaply. However, at the other end Michael Carberry looked in great touch.

Katich (41) joined Carbs and the two took Hampshire from 15-2 to 121-3 by the time Katich was dismissed.

Ervine (5) came and went but Dawson (27*) was there to the end as Carberry dispatched the Saltires bowling attack to all parts of the The Ageas Bowl.

He struck 23 boundaries in his unbeaten knock of 148 (122 balls) as Hampshire ran out winners by six wickets with 23 balls to spare.

Hampshire went on to lift the CB40 trophy at Lord's in September after an unforgettable final - Carbs finished the competition as the leading run-scorer with 598 to his name.
