Organ Looks Forward to More Hampshire Success

Hampshire all-rounder positive after recent contract extension

Fresh from signing a new contract extension with the Club, we spoke to Felix Organ spoke about his time with Hampshire and his ambitions for the future.

Looking back on the 2021 season - which saw Hampshire come agonisingly close to claiming a first County Championship title in 48 years - the 22-year-old said:

“We got so close last year to getting winning some trophies, but we go into next year hoping to put some wrongs right, it’s exciting and hopefully we can go one step further”.

On a personal note, Organ recalls his experience during the 2021 season, which saw him play both 1st and 2nd XI cricket;

“It was disappointing but it was one of those years, I didn’t perform the way I wanted to but then as the year went on I got better and better. I am looking forward to next year, improve this winter. The better you get the less frustrations you have.”

When asked about his future ambitions Organ was optimistic;

“I want to be here (Hampshire) for a long time, but not too long, because I want to play for England! To be honest I don’t have major ambitions, I don’t set myself goals, I just take it step by step. I want to perform as well as I can and just be a set member of the team.”

When asked if he’d like to see himself batting back at the top of the order, as he did during parts of the 2019 season, the 22-year-old commented;

“Definitely, obviously I’m just happy to be in the team but to be set in the team I think I need to be trying to get into batting in the top three.”

Organ registered his maiden first-class century at the top of the order in a County Championship match against Kent in 2019.

Even with his desire to become a top order batter again, Organ was adamant he did not want to be seen as a batting all-rounder;

“I’m a bit of both, it depends, if you’re bowling well people will see me as a bowling all-rounder like last year but if I am batting well, people will say I am a batsman. Ideally, I just want to be both.”

Whatever his personal goals and ambitions might be moving forward, Organ is committed to doing whatever he can to help the team win;

“I will do whatever gets me into the team and helps the team. I am more than happy to do more of one or the other (batting or bowling) but the perfect scenario is a mix.”

The best way to catch Felix and the rest of the Hampshire squad in action all year long in 2022 is with a Hampshire Cricket Membership.

2022 Members also receive access to an exclusive allocation of tickets for next summer’s otherwise sold-out Vitality IT20s at The Ageas Bowl with England facing both India and South Africa at the venue next summer, alongside a whole host of other exciting benefits.
