Overseas Round-Up: Vince Back In England Colours

During the winter months, many Hampshire players have continued playing cricket around the globe

The International League T20 (ILT20), held in Dubai, came to a finale in February with James Vince’s Gulf Giants winning the inaugural competition. Vince captained the Giants and finished second to Alex Hales in runs scored with 439 runs, at an average 48.77. Liam Dawson also played in four matches for the eventual champions.

Benny Howell represented Desert Vipers who finished as runners-up. The all-rounder played in seven matches, scoring 54 runs and taking four wickets.

In South Africa, the SA20 also came to a close. With Adi Birrell in charge, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape managed to defeat Pretoria Capitals to be crowned winners of the tournament. James Fuller and Mason Crane were part of that team, playing in seven and two matches respectively.

Following the ILT20, Vince joined up with Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), along with Fuller. The Hampshire skipper scored 174 runs at an average of 34.80 during his five games before travelling to Bangladesh with England, while Fuller has played in two matches.

Liam Dawson played in two games for Lahore Qalanders before picking up an injury that cut his time in Pakistan short.

Vince played in all three ODIs for England during their tour of Bangladesh. They won the series 2-1, with Vince getting 49 runs in total.

Toby Albert (Joondalup, Australia) and Fletcha Middleton (Cape Town, South Africa) finished stints abroad with 600 runs from 21 matches and 388 runs from 23 matches respectively.

The best way to watch the Hampshire squad in action in 2023 is with a Hampshire Cricket Membership, which provides the chance to be part of the Hampshire family and incorporates a whole host of exciting benefits for 2023.

The Club’s top-tier Executive Club Membership has proven extremely popular for 2023, and hence, only a limited number of these Memberships remain.
