T20 World Cup Update: England Continue Impressive Start

Eoin Morgan's side are three from three after convincing wins

England have continued their exceptional start to the Men’s T20 World Cup after eight wicket wins against Bangladesh and rivals Australia.

On the 27th October, England faced Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi bowling the Tigers out for 129, Southern Brave quick Tymal Mills led the way with 3-27 from his four overs.

The left-armer had good support from Moeen Ali and Liam Livingstone who both chipped in with two wickets of their own.

Opener Jason Roy then put the game to bed, scoring a fluent 61 from only 38 balls including five boundaries and three maximums as England completed the run chase with 5.5 overs and eight wickets to spare.

Eoin Morgan’s side then travelled to Dubai to take on old-rivals Australia. Bowling first once again, it was another Southern Brave bowler who did the damage, this time Chris Jordan, who took 3-17, including the key wickets of Steve Smith and Aaron Finch.

In reply, Jos Buttler dispatched the Aussies’ attack all around the ground in scoring a rapid 71 from only 32 balls with five big sixes.

The target was once again reeled in with only two wickets lost and8.2 overs to spare.

Elsewhere, India fell to a second defeat, this time to Kane Williamson’s New Zealand. Virat Kohli’s side could only manage 110-7 from their 20 overs.

Trent Bolt doing the damage for the Kiwi’s snaring three wickets for only 20 runs.

In response Daryl Mitchell scored a fluent 49 and captain Williamson saw his side home with 33 from 31 balls.

Afghanistan once again impressed, beating Namibia by 62 runs and South Africa continued their campaign – after an opening defeat - by beating Sri Lanka in a close contest.
