Southern Vipers 2017 Fixtures Announced

The Southern Vipers will contest five group fixtures in total, with their Kia Super League title defence set to get underway against Western Storm at the The Ageas Bowl

The ECB have today announced the Kia Super League fixtures for the upcoming 2017 season.

The Southern Vipers will contest five group fixtures in total, with their Kia Super League title defence set to get underway against Western Storm at the The Ageas Bowl on Thursday 10th August.

The re-match of last summer’s inaugural Kia Super League final will precede Hampshire’s NatWest T20 Blast encounter against Glamorgan, and is one of six domestic “double-headers” between the two tournaments, which will all be televised live on Sky Sports, with ball-by-ball commentary also available on BBC Radio.

Charlotte Edwards’ side will host three home matches in this year’s competition, with Surrey Stars visiting the The Ageas Bowl on Sunday 20th August before taking on Yorkshire Diamonds at Arundel on Saturday 26th August.

The Vipers two away games will see them visit Loughborough on Tuesday 15th August, followed by a trip to Liverpool Cricket Club to take on Lancashire Thunder on Wednesday 23rd August.

The competition will once again conclude in a showcase Finals Day involving the top three teams on Friday 1st September, with the location for this year’s climax confirmed as the 1st Central County Ground in Hove – home ground to Sussex County Cricket Club, a member of the Southern Vipers consortium.

This is an exciting time for the Southern Vipers and the new fixtures focus our attention on the season ahead. As defending champions there are high expectations and we hope we can treat our new fans to another successful campaign

Bob Parks, Southern Vipers General Manager

After the huge success of the first Kia Super League last summer, which saw over 15,000 fans enjoy watching the 15 group stage matches, the second season will follow the same format, with the six teams taking part in a round-robin competition across 13 different venues between Thursday 10th August and Saturday 26th August 2017.
