The Ageas Bowl Hosts ‘Extra Special’ Ashes Sleepover Event

More than 30 VIP guests attended the venue's Ashes Sleepover to celebrate the start of the 2017/18 Ashes

The Ageas Bowl welcomed more than 30 VIP guests on Wednesday evening (22nd November) as the venue hosted an exclusive Ashes Sleepover event to celebrate the start of the 2017/18 Ashes between England and Australia.

The stylish event, which was staged in partnership with Hilton and took place within the venue’s Hilton hotel, saw a whole host of attendees invited to enjoy an evening of entertainment ahead of the series-opening fixture down under.

Guests first enjoyed an Australian-themed three-course meal in BEEFY’S, the restaurant and bar inspired by Sir Ian Botham, before taking in a Q&A with former England Internationals, Nick Knight and Marcus Trescothick, alongside former Hampshire all-rounder, Kevan James – the trio providing excellent insight and entertaining anecdotes throughout the evening.

A selection of those in attendance then enjoyed a luxurious overnight stay in the hotel’s Ageas Media Centre, including a unique viewing of the first day’s coverage of England v Australia at Brisbane, courtesy of The Luna Cinema.

The screening was viewed by guests from their very own Hilton bed, and they weren’t left short of entertainment as they took in Hampshire’s James Vince superb innings of 83 on the opening day.

Sky Sports Broadcaster, Hayley McQueen was just one of those VIP guests who took part in the evening, alongside a number of high-profile individuals from a range of local businesses.

Our guests who attended the Ashes Sleepover had a fantastic time and it’s so pleasing to hear that they enjoyed the fun experience that we were able to create in our Ageas Media Centre to mark the start of the Ashes tour. The evening was made even more exciting for us by the performance of Hampshire Captain James Vince, who recorded his maiden Test fifty at the Gabba.

We love an opportunity to showcase our venue and its stunning facilities, including our Hilton hotel, BEEFY’S Restaurant, eforea spa and of course our new Boundary Lakes Golf Course, and it was extra special to share it with such great company. Many thanks too to Hayley, Marcus, Kevan and Nick for playing their part in an evening that was beyond first class.

Jonathan Crocker, The Ageas Bowl Chief Commercial Officer

Wednesday’s event followed on the heels of a record-breaking on-sale period early this year for the The Ageas Bowl’s Test match between England and India next summer, with this unprecedented demand expected to continue with tickets now on general sale.
