The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced how the men's teams will be selected for The Hundred in 2021.
The new competition, which was originally scheduled to launch this year but was postponed due to COVID-19, has a vision to grow the game and is part of the ECB’s long-term strategy to inspire a new generation to choose cricket.
A three step process has been confirmed to decide the teams' squad members, consisting firstly of England Player Allocation, followed by a Player Retention Window and lastly a new 2021 Draft.
The new retention window will see teams start with their 2020 squad lists - from this they can negotiate to retain any or all of their men's players for 2021 until January.
At the end of the Retention Window, The Hundred will publish the final retained player list. This will highlight slots available to teams for the The Hundred Draft 2021 with a maximum of three overseas players permitted.
A draw for the picking order of the Draft will then take place, followed by the 2021 Draft.
