Weatherley & Wheater In The Runs

Latest update on the Hampshire players down under

Hampshire batsman Joe Weatherley has continued his impressive form down under with a half-century in Woodville’s one-day defeat to Tea Tree Gully.

After former Elite International Cricket Academy man Travis Head hit 86, Woodville were chasing 299 for victory from their 50 overs. 18-year old Weatherley, who struck an unbeaten 120 for Woodville the previous week, hit 1 four and 2 sixes during his knock of 52 from 75 balls.

All-rounder Tom Andrews finished unbeaten on 33, but Woodville could only reach 222 all-out from 47 overs.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Wheater also impressed with the bat – his unbeaten 72 from just 65 balls helped Perth beat South Perth in their two day match. South Wilts’ overseas fast-bowler Ryan Duffield picked up 4-23 to dismiss South Perth for 122 before Perth replied with 287-2 declared.

25-year old Wheater hit 8 fours and 1 six during his fluent knock whilst opener Tom Casey hit an impressive 106 not out.

Hampshire’s Will Smith didn’t bat on day one of Gordon’s match against Eastern Suburbs but bowled 27 overs, 0-70.
