Openers Brad Taylor (0-18) and Chris Wood (2-19) kept it tight early in the Notts innings with former Hants man Michael Lumb falling to Wood for just 1.

It was opener Greg Smith, who led from the front for Notts as his unbeaten 78 from just 65 balls (7 fours, 1 six) helped the holders reach 150-4 from their 20 overs.

Leg-spinner Mason Crane (1-28) picked up one wicket for Hampshire whilst Alsop (1-29) took the important wicket of Riki Wessels (10).

In reply, Hampshire initially looked well-placed to book their spot in the final with runs from Michael Carberry (20), Tom Alsop (31) and Jimmy Adams (18) helping Hants reach 69-2 at the half-way stage.

However, Hampshire lost quick wickets during the middle overs with Steve Mullaney (2-18), Matthew Carter (2-23) and Sam Wood (2-15) impressing.

Taylor’s unbeaten 23 from 18 balls (3 fours) was a clear highlight in Hampshire’s innings, as Ervine’s side reached 141-8, handing the victory to Notts.
