Winter Watch: Fantastic Start To February For The Ageas Bowl Contingent Overseas

Mason Crane, Joe Weatherley and Brad Wheal were all in action overseas

The first weekend in February saw yet further outstanding overseas performances produced by a host of Hampshire players.

Mason Crane presented another spin-bowling masterclass for Gordon Cricket Club on Sunday, claiming his third consecutive first-grade seven wicket haul.

Crane took match-winning figures of 7-53 against Sydney to secure his fourth haul of five wickets or more in as many contests as his side claimed a comfortable 191-run victory.

The 19-year-old’s latest performance took his first grade season wicket tally to 44, at an average of less than 20 in his 10 total appearances.

Joe Weatherley also starred for his side down under last week, notching a superb unbeaten century in Woodville's draw against Adelaide.

The right-hander's 124* ensured Woodville lost just one wicket as they concluded their innings on 242-1, in reply to the opposition's 393-6.

Weatherley has been in excellent form for his side in recent weeks - this week's century taking his tally to two in as many first grade fixtures.

Hampshire seamer Brad Wheal was also in action for South African side Topham Cricket Club at the weekend

The right-armer took an efficient 2-24 in his side’s impressive win over 2015 KZN Castle Premier League Champions, Crusaders.
