Winter Watch: Five Hampshire Players In Action Overseas

James Vince, Mason Crane, Rilee Rossouw, Brad Taylor and George Bailey were all in action overseas last week

Five Hampshire players featured overseas last week, with James Vince, Mason Crane, Rilee Rossouw, Brad Taylor and George Bailey all in action in either Australia, Bangladesh or New Zealand.

Both James Vince and Mason Crane enjoyed positive starts to England's Ashes campaign down under, as Joe Root's side took on a WACA XI in a two-day warm-up fixture.

Vince looked in good touch on his way to a stylish 129-ball knock of 82, helping England reach 349-6 to end day one. Crane then impressed in England's bowling effort with the leg-spinner removing the dangerous Josh Philippe (88) on his way to recording figures of 2-75, seeing WACA dismissed for 342.

Rilee Rossouw made his first appearance since suffering a finger injury that kept him sidelined for Hampshire in the latter stages of last season, when he featured in Kuhlna Titans' opening contest in this year's Bangladesh Premier League on Sunday.

The destructive top-order batsman came in at number four as the Titans looked to chase Dhaka Dynamites imposing first-innings total of 202-7, and the left-hander contributed a quick-fire 23 from 14 balls, including two fours and a six, before falling to Mohammad Shahid as the Dynamites emerged victorious.

Brad Taylor made his second appearance for Wellington-based side, Petone Cricket Club on Saturday and the all-rounder contributed with both bat and ball.

The off-spinner, who is featuring for the side as part of the Engand's International Pathway Programme, offered good control as he claimed a tidy 1-40 from his 10 overs to help restrict Upper Hutt to 239-9 batting first.

Taylor then notched a timely 52-ball 42 with the bat in Petone's reply, but his side finished 14 runs short in their chasing effort after being dismissed for 225.

George Bailey was in Sheffield Shield action for Tasmania over the weekend as they faced Queensland in the latest round of four-day fixtures.

Despite dismissing the visitors for 181 in their first innings, Tasmania were unable to prevent falling to a seven-wicket defeat as Usman Khawaja's men secured victory against Bailey's men.
