Winter Watch: Superb Performances Overseas From Hampshire's Crane & Weatherley

Mason Crane and Joe Weatherley both impressed with outstanding performances overseas last week

Hampshire's Mason Crane, Joe Weatherley, James Vince, George Bailey and Brad Taylor were all in action for their respective Australian sides last week, whilst Brad Wheal was also in action for Scotland in UAE, in what was an action-packed schedule for the Hampshire representatives.

Crane, who claimed his first five-wicket haul for Gordon CC last week, impressed once again as he returned superb figures of 7-93 against Mosman CC on Saturday.

The 19-year-old looked in good touch with the bat again too as he struck his second half-century in as many weeks for the visitors, to help see them secure a convincing victory.

Weatherley was also in excellent form with the bat over the weekend, the opener striking a sensational 220* at the top of the order for Woodville CC against Prospect CC on Saturday.

The right-hander notched his superb double-century alondside important half-centuries from Conor McInerney (94) and Harry Nielsen (57*), to take his side to 419-2d from just 78 overs.

Off-spinner Taylor was also in action for Woodville on Saturday, conceding just four runs from his three overs before the close on the opening day.

Australian International Bailey was in action last week as Hobart Hurricanes took on Melbourne Renegades in this year's Big Bash competition.

After the Renegades recorded the highest ever BBL total in the first innings - the hosts reached 222-4 from their allotted overs - the Hurricanes completed a thrilling record-breaking chase, chasing down the home-side's total from the final ball of the contest

Bailey (59 from 42) contributed a vital half-century in his team's chasing effort alongside a stunning century from Ben McDermott (114 from 52).

Another round of BBL fixtures saw Hampshire captain Vince back in action for Sydney Thunder, this time facing off against local rivals Sydney Sixers.

His side cruised to a comfortable eight-wicket win after the Sixers posted just 99-9 from their 20 overs, with Vince contributing a quickfire 28 from 18 balls.

Away from Australia, seamer Wheal featured for Scotland in their opening fixture of the Desert T20 tournament in UAE.

The paceman finished his four over allocation with figures of 1-31 as Scotland defeated Hong Kong by 24 runs.
