Four Vipers Stars Selected In England's T20 World Cup Squad

This year’s tournament will be the first taste of World Cup cricket for Lauren Bell and Maia Bouchier, whilst it will be Charlie Dean’s first T20 World Cup, after she made the final of the 50-over World Cup back in February 2022.

For the experienced Wyatt, it will be her sixth T20 World Cup having made her tournament debut back in 2010, where she was named Player of the Match as she took 4-11 against South Africa – a game which featured three current Southern Vipers coaches in Charlotte Edwards, Anya Shrubsole, and Beth Morgan. England’s campaign, their first major tournament under new head coach Jon Lewis, begins on Saturday 11th February against West Indies, whom England beat 5-0 in their previous T20 series in the Caribbean.

In the first of England’s official warm-up matches, England beat South Africa by 17 runs in a high scoring affair at Stellenbosch, where Lauren Bell and Charlie Dean took three wickets each, whilst Danni Wyatt made 24 off 17 and Maia Bouchier scored a rapid 19* from just seven deliveries – a whopping strike rate of 271.42.

Dean and Bell stood out with the ball in England’s previous series against the West Indies, where they took 11 and nine wickets respectively, whilst Wyatt scored 90 runs at an average of 45, and Bouchier scored 31 runs at an impressive strike rate of 140.90.
