Born on Australia's island state, Tasmania, George Bailey has represented his nation 121 times across all three formats at International level.
Bailey was a prolific run-scorer at domestic level for Tasmania for more than 10 years after making his first-class debut in 2004, also becoming an exemplary captain of the state-side during this period.
His efforts with the bat, as well as his skills as skipper saw him burst onto the International scene in 2012, where he became the first Australian since 1877 to be named captain on debut for the national side.
Offering positive contributions in the top-order regularly, Bailey soon earnt debuts in all three formats shortly after with the right-hander featuring in the Australia Test side that whitewashed England in 2013/14.
Bailey is perhaps best known for his contributions to Australia’s ODI side, totalling more than 3000 runs at an average of 40.58 during his 90 caps so far.
The 34-year-old has featured for Hampshire as well as Middlesex and Sussex during his stints in England, making five appearances at the Utilita Bowl back in 2014.
In November 2016, it was announced that Bailey has signed for Hampshire on a two-year deal, where he would share the captaincy with James Vince. He hit the ground running in 2017, scoring his career best score for Hampshire when he struck 161 in a draw with Surrey at the Kia Oval in July.
Bailey notched over 650 runs in the middle order, scoring two centuries in the County Championship. The Australian also struck his highest T20 score, smashing 89* against Essex in July 2017 on his way to accumulating over 300 runs as Hampshire reached the semi-finals. Bailey will return to the Hampshire setup for the 2018 season.
