Match Preview: Hampshire v Surrey, LV= CC
A 12-player squad has been selected for Hampshire’s final LV= Insurance County Championship match of 2023 against Surrey at The Ageas Bowl
Harry Petrie is a right-arm fast-medium bowler and right-hand batter.
He was born in Wycombe, Buckinghamshire and is a product of Hampshire’s impressive youth system.
A superb second half of the 2019 season saw Petrie play a leading role within the U17 competitions and was subsequently selected for the Super 4’s competition a year young.
He entered the 2021 season looking to try to make an impact in the Second XI and made his debut in May against Sussex, taking match figures of 3/64.
Petrie’s best performance of the summer came against the same opposition but in a T20 match for the Second XI, taking 4-10, as he finished 2021 with 11 wickets from his six appearances.
His performances for Hampshire saw international recognition later on in the summer, as he, alongside fellow Hampshire player Tom Prest, was called up for England Under 19's series with the West Indies.
In May 2022, Petrie made his First XI debut in a First-Class match against a Sri Lanka Development XI. He registered figures of 3-48 in the tourist's first innings, before finishing with match figures of 4-71.
However, Petrie struggled with injury throughout the 2023 season and was restricted to just Second XI cricket.
Ahead of the 2023 season, Petrie was awarded with a rookie contract, reflecting his on-field contributions along with his obvious potential.
