Nathan Ellis is a right-arm pace bowler and right-handed batter.

He was born in New South Wales, Australia and has represented his home nation in both white-ball formats at international level.

The fast bowler has had a profitable time with Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League (BBL) and, since making his debut in 2018, he has made 39 appearances - taking 44 wickets at an average of 26.20.

In 2021, he was rewarded with a call-up to Australia’s IT20 squad for the series against Bangladesh where he became the first ever player to take a hat-trick on debut in an IT20. He was then named as one of three players as injury cover in Australia's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Ellis made his ODI debut in March 2022 during Australia’s tour of Pakistan, before he joined up with Hampshire Hawks for the Vitality Blast.

He quickly became a fan favourite at Utilita Bowl due to his ability to bowl at the death and was vital in the team’s turnaround from losing their opening four games to qualifying for Finals Day at Edgbaston.

Having taken three vital wickets against Somerset in the semi-final, Ellis was at the centre of the drama in the final. He bowled Richard Gleeson with what would have been the final ball to secure the Vitality Blast trophy – only for a no ball to be called.

However, Ellis held his nerve and kept Lancashire to one run off the final ball to secure a third T20 title for Hampshire. Overall, he took 15 wickets in the competition at an average of 20.86, with an impressive economy rate of just 6.87.

A spot for London Spirit in The Hundred followed before he played in IT20s against India and England in his country’s preparation for the 2022 T20 World Cup.
