Advanced Specialist Occupational Therapist

Katie qualified with a BSc in Occupational Therapy from the University of Southampton in 2010, and has since worked in both the NHS and private practice. Katie worked in London for many years including the Royal London Hospital, Kings College Hospital and as a clinical lead in a specialist neurological rehabilitation unit in Guys and St Thomas’s.

Katie has always been passionate about the rehabilitation of the upper limb and works as an Advanced Occupational Therapist in the hand therapy team Southampton General Hospital where she works closely with the hand surgery team as well as the rheumatology consultants.  Her work includes clients with complex traumatic injuries, those recovering from elective upper limb surgery such as trapeziectomies and carpal tunnel decompression, as well as long term conditions such as arthritis.

Katie has a PgCert in Hand Therapy from the University of Derby and is currently working towards her Masters in Hand Therapy. She is a member of the British Association Hand Therapy (BAHT) and has experience of teaching at local and national levels on various hand therapy topics.

Katie has a passion for hand therapy and injury problem solving and strongly believes in providing excellent quality of care, focusing on the specific needs of the patient and using innovative approaches based on knowledge and experience.
