Indatwa, meaning 'legend', was concieved following the trip ex-Hampshire Women's 1st XI and Southern Vipers player, Providence Cowdrill, made to volunteer with Cricket Without Boundaries in Rwanda in October 2017. Hampshire and Vipers team mate Ella Chandler followed in her footsteps and through the friendships forged with players in Rwanda and their inspiring coach Tall Eric, a link was created between CWB Rwanda, Indatwa and women and girls in Hampshire.
Vision: To strengthen and grow the partnership between Hampshire Indatwa and young female cricketers in Hampshire, under the auspices of Cricket Without Boundaries, with the aim of “empowering girls with life skills through cricket.”
Stakeholders: Hampshire Cricket Board; Cricket Without Boundaries; Indatwa Cricket Foundation; Indatwa Cricket Academy; Rwanda Cricket Association
It's a huge privilege to have this cross-continent link with young female cricketers in Rwanda and the partnership of the stakeholder organisations, through the Indatwa Cricket Foundation, will benefit girls in both countries for years to come.
Purpose:
History: Indatwa (meaning legend) was conceived following Hampshire Women’s player Providence Cowdrill’s trip to volunteer with Cricket Without Boundaries (CWB) in Rwanda back in October 2017. It was a life-changing experience, and teammate Ella Chandler followed in her footsteps and so a link was created between CWB Rwanda and women and girls in Hampshire.
