Vipers Champions

Initiated in 2018, the Vipers Champions Programme is an innovative and progressive young leaders programme designed specifically to give girls proficiency in umpiring, scoring and coaching. It combines mentoring and experience and allows girls to gain confidence and life skills through the medium of cricket

Participants can start as a Schools Champion, taking a basic coaching, umpiring and scoring course. They can then progress along the pathway towards being a Elite Champion with formal coaching and grounds qualifications alongside paid umpiring and scoring opportunities.

The class of 2021 includes 23 Club Champions, 12 Bronze Champions, 4 Silver Champions, 6 Gold Champions, 5 Elite Champions and 3 in the Vipers Champion Academy (new addition for 2021).

The girls then assit at clubs, Regional Performance Centres (RPC) and help deliver events across the county. They are supported by Hampshire Association of Cricket Officials at every stage and are provided with kit, training and mentoring.

This summer Champions, qualified as Stage 2 ACO umpires, officiated at County Age Group U11 & U13 home games and RPC U15 and best of games.
