20 Years Of T20: Carberry's Quarter-Final Heroics

Michael Carberry scored his one and only T20 century in a thrilling quarter-final at The Ageas Bowl in 2013

With this year's Vitality Blast campaign just around the corner - and to mark the 20th edition of the competition being staged this summer - we've taken a trip down memory lane, looking back at some of the most memorable performances from the past 19 seasons. Next up is Michael Carberry's stunning century which sealed Hampshire's place at Finals Day in 2013

2013 was perhaps one of the best starts to the T20 Cup in Hampshire's history, winning all but two of the group stage matches, only thwarted by a rained off match against Essex, and an 8-run defeat to Kent.

A home quarter-final against Lancashire, who won six of their group stage matches, set The Ageas Bowl for a highly entertaining evening on the south coast.

Michael Carberry and James Vince got the Royals off to a flier, with an opening stand of 110 which was broken in the tenth over when the current club Captain fell for a well-made 60.

Carberry kept going with an array of shots all round the ground, hitting straight sixes off Glen Chappel and Simon Kerrigan, with another off Kabir Ali.

After 11 fours and 3 sixes, Carberry was not out on 98 with just one Mitchell McClenaghan ball to go.

The opener was dished up a full toss, and an inside edge, along with some quick running and a missed throw from wicket keeper Gareth Cross, gave Carberry his first, and only, T20 hundred, as Hampshire closed their innings on 202-3.

Wickets from Danny Briggs, Sohail Tanvir, and Liam Dawson, were enough to keep Lancashire to 201-4, with victory by a single run seeing the Royals through to a fourth consecutive Finals Day.
