A Tribute To Shane Warne

Hampshire Cricket paid tribute to former Club captain Shane Warne during the 2022 season-opening fixture

At lunch on day one of Hampshire's season-opening LV= Insurance County Championship fixture with Somerset, we paid tribute to one of the greatest cricketers of all time, Shane Warne, who sadly passed away on 4th March.

Warne played at Hampshire in 2000 before returning to captain the club from 2004-2007 where he scored his only two First-Class centuries, and took 276 First-Class wickets at 25.58.

Spectators were welcomed onto the pitch at the lunch interval to watch a video with tributes from Hampshire Cricket Chairman Rod Bransgrove, former Club Captains Jimmy Adams and Dimi Mascarenhas, and Director of Cricket, Giles White.

A minute's applause rung round the ground afterwards to conclude the tribute to one of cricket's greatest ever players.
