Abu Dhabi T10 League - Hampshire Update

Chris Wood, Mason Crane, James Fuller & Rilee Rossouw are all currently competing in Abu Dhabi’s 10-over-a-side tournament

Abu Dhabi’s T10 League has returned this November for its third instalment. The tournament sees eight teams face-off in a round robin group stage, followed by semi-finals and the final.

Four Hampshire players are representing sides in the Abu Dhabi T10; Chris Wood (Northern Warriors), Mason Crane (Deccan Gladiators), James Fuller (Maratha Arabians) and Rilee Rossouw (Bangla Tigers).

Read on to see how they are getting on so far.

Chris Wood

Wood has appeared in all of Northern Warriors’ five fixtures in this year’s T10 League so far as one of their overseas players, joining the likes of wicketkeeper-batsman Sam Billings, explosive West Indian Andre Russell, and ex-Hampshire overseas Darren Sammy.

The left-arm seam-bowler impressed in his first fixture, taking two wickets, receiving the ‘Stylish Player of the Match’ award as a result, before claiming the wicket of Hampshire teammate Rilee Rossouw in his most recent fixture.

Northern Warriors take on Deccan Gladiators in their next fixture on Thursday (21st Nov), which may see a head-to-head between Wood and Crane.

Mason Crane

Young leg-spinner Mason Crane joined up with Deccan Gladiators for the Abu Dhabi T10, where he’s been playing alongside Afghan opening batsman Mohammed Shahzad, as well as former Hampshire star Shane Watson.

Mason played the first two fixtures of the Gladiators’ T10 campaign and, like Wood, removed his Hampshire teammate Rilee Rossouw when playing against Bangla Tigers.

James Fuller

Big-hitting all-rounder James Fuller is representing Maratha Arabians and played in his side’s first two matches.

There are plenty of big names in the Arabians’ squad, including India legend Yuvraj Singh, Sri Lanka’s death-bowler Lasith Malinga, and destructive batsman Chris Lynn (who hit 91 from 30 this week), but it was Fuller was who particularly economical with the ball against Qalandars.

Rilee Rossouw

Left-handed batsman Rilee Rossouw joined the Bangla Tigers, with a view to providing big hitting at the top of the order.

Rossouw joins the Tigers along with fellow left-handed top-order batsman Colin Ingram, as well as ICC Cricket World Cup winner Liam Plunkett.

The power-hitter has been a consistent performer so far, with a high score of 44 not out against Team Abu Dhabi on Tuesday (19th Nov).
