He returned to Hampshire, and in September 2017, he played in three further Championship matches. He impressed in a regular spot at the top of the order the following season, contributing 772 runs across all formats including his maiden First-Class and List A centuries - the latter of which a competition in which he thrived, helping the Club secure 50-over silverware for the first time in six years.

Apart from a spell injured in 2019 he has since played regularly, generally opening the batting in first-class matches. In 2020 he played in all five matches in the Bob Willis Trophy averaging just under 45.  In 20 limited-overs matches he averages 31.81 with one century, 105* v Kent in 2018.
