Cameron Steel Joins Hampshire On Loan 

Hampshire Cricket are delighted to announce the signing of Cameron Steel on a loan deal from Durham.

The 25-year-old batsman joins Hampshire on a two-month agreement, coming in as injury cover and providing depth to the squad during the LV= Insurance County Championship schedule throughout April and May.

Steel, who has 2,000 first-class runs to his name from 40 matches, is a product of Durham’s youth set-up and first burst onto the scene in 2017 aged just 21 when he became Durham’s youngest ever double-centurion, striking 224 against Leicestershire.

He scored 889 runs at an average of 40.86 in his impressive debut campaign, before also striking 638 runs the following season.

The right-hander has already featured for Hampshire Second XI in a friendly fixture so far this season, recording an excellent 134 at the top-of-the-order against a strong Surrey Second XI side.
