The left-arm seamer has signed a new deal keeping him at the The Ageas Bowl for at least the next two years
Hampshire Cricket are thrilled to announce that Chris Wood has signed a new contract extension with the Club.
The 28-year-old seamer has been awarded a deal which will keep him at the The Ageas Bowl for at least the next two years.
Wood, a Hampshire Academy product who featured for each of the Club’s age-group side as a youngster, made his Hampshire debut in April 2009 and has since made more than 200 appearances for the Club across all formats.
The skilled left-armer has been a key white-ball contributor in that time, featuring prominently in Hampshire’s double limited-over triumph in 2012 as well as this year’s victorious Royal London One-Day Cup campaign.
Wood enjoyed a particularly impressive Vitality Blast competition this summer, claiming 19 wickets at an average of just 17.63 to find himself in the top 10 of the competition’s highest wicket-takers.
The Basingstoke-born paceman has made 183 limited-overs appearances for Hampshire during the last nine years, claiming 117 wickets at an average of 25.98 in T20 matches, whilst totalling 103 wickets at an average of 27.15 in List A contests.
I’m delighted to sign another extension here at Hampshire – it was very pleasing to contribute this year and to win another trophy at Lord’s was very special. I’m looking forward to working hard on my game again this winter ahead of hopefully another successful season in 2019.

Chris has done particularly well in white-ball cricket this year and was a standout performer for us during our T20 campaign. He’s a product of the Academy here, so we know him very well, and he’s become a very smart bowler who has a sense of what the batsman’s looking to do - hopefully he plays a big part in our campaigns over the coming two years.
