Despite intermittent showers, the Danny Bond Finals Day was a resounding success. Dove House proved to have the greater depth to become the champions following a round robin tournament between the three regional winners of the 9-team Danny Bond Special Secondary Schools League.
The loss of early wickets in match 1 cost Redwood Park (218-4) in response to Dove House's biggest score of the day, 260-3.
Match 2 was a close affair, the result in doubt until the very end. Redwood Park this time lost late wickets to slip from 250-0 to 244-3, Oak Lodge easing to 250-1 in reply.
The fall of early wickets again proved decisive in the final match. Oak Lodge slipped to 191-2 before suffering a 26 run defeat, after Dove House had posted a competitive 240-1.
Teachers and school staff selected a player of the tournament from each of the participating teams - Hayden Chappell (Redwood Park), Joel Lycett (Oak Lodge) and Josh Coyle (Dove House) each received a Chance to Shine Ashes replica urn.
Hampshire Cricket Board Development Manager Simon Jones presented the trophies congratulated the players for their standard of play on the day. He also thanked Broadhalfpenny Brigands for the use of the historic Broadhalfpenny Down ground, teachers and staff and umpires Jamie Legg and Keith Williams.
