Hampshire Cricket & Southern Vipers' End Of Season Awards 2023

Georgia Adams and Liam Dawson won nine awards between them as the two all-rounders almost swept the board at Hampshire Cricket and Southern Vipers End of Season Awards.

Players, staff, coaches, members, partners, and supporters filled the Ageas Ballroom at the Hilton at The Ageas Bowl on Saturday night for the annual prizegiving.

Having already won the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy Player of the Year, the Professional Cricketers’ Association (PCA) Women’s Domestic Overall MVP, and the Charlotte Edwards Cup Player of the Year, Adams was widely expected to receive further honours at the weekend. She didn’t disappoint, taking home trophies for 50 Over MVP, T20 MVP, Fans’ Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, and the Vipers’ Batting Award.

It was a similar story for Dawson, who had already been named PCA Men’s Domestic Overall Player of the Year and captain of the PCA’s Team of the Year in the build-up to The Ageas Bowl event. On Saturday evening he added Hampshire’s Fans’ Player of the Year, First Class MVP, Players’ Player of the Year, and the Bowling Award to his personal haul.

Other winners on the night included Fletcha Middleton, who scored 1,090 runs across the season, and Ella McCaughan, whose impressive form helped Southern Vipers secure an unprecedented domestic double. Both players were named Young Player of the Year for their respective teams – awards which are always hotly contested given the commitment to developing young players at The Ageas Bowl.

James Vince was named T20 MVP for Hampshire having led his team to another Finals Day and became the competition’s all-time leading run scorer, while Nick Gubbins took the 50 Over MVP after plundering 404 runs during a competition which ultimately saw Hampshire fall just short of another trophy – losing a nail-biting final to Leicestershire Foxes by two runs.

Vince also picked up the Batting Award for Hampshire, the seventh time he has won the award, having scored almost 1,700 runs across all formats. Like Dawson, Vince was also named in the PCA’s Team of the Year and came third in the race for domestic MVP behind his teammate and Middlesex's Ryan Higgins.

With 32 wickets this season - 19 in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy and 13 in the Charlotte Edwards Cup – Linsey Smith won the Bowling Award for the Vipers, and Tim Tremlett became the first person to receive the new Rose & Crown Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his 50-years of service to Hampshire Cricket. Members of Hampshire’s 1973 County Championship winning squad were also in attendance, marking the 50^th anniversary of their title triumph.
