Three exciting prospects have been awarded Rookie Contracts for the 2020 season
Hampshire Cricket are pleased to announce that promising youngsters Scott Currie, Ajeet Dale and Tom Scriven have been awarded Rookie Contracts.
The trio have featured prominently for Hampshire Second XI in recent seasons, with Currie and Dale offering excellent skill with the new ball and Scriven making valuable contributions with both bat and ball. After signing their Rookie Contracts, all three players will play an important role as part of Hampshire’s Second XI in 2020 whilst continuing their development.
Scriven made his full First Team debut for Hampshire in a T20 fixture against Gloucestershire in 2018, a year in which he also represented England at their Under 19 World Cup in New Zealand. His talent as a genuine all-rounder has seen him become a standout performer for the Second XI, and heading into 2020, he’ll be looking to have another positive campaign next summer.
Currie is the latest Hampshire youth player to go on to represent England’s Under 19 side after receiving a call-up this winter, with the seamer currently touring the Caribbean as part of a 16-strong squad that us preparing for the upcoming Under 19 Cricket World Cup in January. The right-arm paceman was part of the triumphant Hampshire Second XI Championship side this summer and will be looking to contribute to further success next season.
Alongside Currie, Dale has also blossomed this season after making six appearances for the Second XI in 2018. His speed and accuracy has helped cement his place as a key member of the side’s bowling attack this year, where he was also a part of the title-winning red-ball squad.
We’re pleased to award Rookie Contracts to three exciting young prospects in Scott, Tom and Ajeet. All three players have showed excellent promise and we’re looking forward to helping them continue their development over the next 12 months.
