Hampshire Cricket in the Community are celebrating the ‘undoubted success’ of ‘Project Fresh Face’, an exciting enterprise project run by the charity with leading fashion designer, FatFace.

The partnership between Hampshire Cricket’s official charity and the clothing and accessories brand focused on an innovative project designed to inspire the next generation of students to get involved in business.

After launching in January earlier this year, Project Fresh Face saw secondary school students invited to a launch event at the The Ageas Bowl - allowing them the opportunity to hear the basic principles of business first-hand, before then spending six weeks designing a FatFace product.

Students had to incorporate concept development, research and design for their product as well as budgeting, marketing and working as part of a dynamic team. The project saw a number of entries from a variety of local schools with successful schools reaching a semi-final stage, before the project reached a climax for the four schools selected for the Finals, as the quartet presented their finished product to Fat Face’s senior management team last Friday (31st March).

At the event, Wildern School (Hedge End) were announced as the overall winners, however such were the quality of the designs presented, Fat Face stunned the three runners up by offering to produce limited runs of either adult or junior garments.

The schools and students involved in the inaugural Project Fresh Face have really engaged with it and it’s been really beneficial for them which has been fantastic.

To see so many excellent designs in the final - and the fact that Fat Face have chosen to produce all four designs - is a testament to the hard work everyone involved at each school has put in. The project has been an undoubted success from start to finish and hopefully it has helped provide an opportunity offering insight into how a business runs and what it takes to be successful in a number of related careers.

As part of the Finals proceedings, all children involved received a £20 gift voucher for Fat Face with each school presented with a £100 voucher, whilst all participants have also been invited to the The Ageas Bowl to attend Hampshire’s NatWest T20 Blast ‘Family Festival’ fixture this summer.

FatFace are proud to have been able to sponsor such a great initiative and have been astounded by the standards delivered by the students throughout this project. Every step of the project highlighting the potential that the students have and the value that they will bring in the future.

We would like to thank everyone that took part.
