Hampshire Players Selected In The Hundred Draft

James Vince, Liam Dawson, Mason Crane, Kyle Abbott, Rilee Rossouw and Chris Wood will all feature in The Hundred next summer

Six Hampshire players have been selected to take part in next summer's The Hundred competition following the inaugural men's player draft which took place on Sunday.

Liam Dawson, Mason Crane, Kyle Abbott, Rilee Rossouw and Chris Wood were all picked up after putting their names forward for the the UK's first-ever player draft, alongside James Vince who had already been selected for the Southern Brave as a 'Local Icon'.

Dawson and Vince will both play for their hometown side with the all-rounder selected in the second round by the The Ageas Bowl-based Brave for £100,000.

Crane and Abbott will also pair up after their fifth round selection by London Spirit for £50,000 whilst Rilee Rossouw (£75,000) and Chris Wood (£40,000) will line-up for Oval Invincibles who claimed the duo in the third and sixth round respectively.

All eight sides in the competition selected 12 players from a pool of more than 550 eligible entrants, including three overseas players per team.

Former Hampshire international players Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Northern Superchargers), Glenn Maxwell (London Spirit) and Imran Tahir (Manchester Originals) will all also feature in the tournament beginning 2020.

The Southern Brave, who will contest all of the team's men's matches at the The Ageas Bowl, will partner West Indies international Andre Russell, Australian opener David Warner and Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan with England superstar Jofra Archer for next summer's campaign.
