Lashings World XI Announced For Charity T20 Double-Header Day

Today Lashings World XI have named their 12-man squad who will be arriving at The Ageas Bowl next Saturday (28th August) alongside special guests David Smith and Hampshire & West Indies legend Sir Gordon Greenidge for their T20 exhibition fixture against Hampshire All-Star XI to open the Charity T20 Double-Header Day.

The star-studded side sees former international cricketers such as England fast bowler Martin Bicknell (Captain), England big-hitting batter Owais Shah, Pakistan death-bowler Yasir Arafat, four-times Ashes winner & England Captain John Emburey, 1992 England World Cup finalist Chris Lewis, and South African T20 batter Richard Levi just to name a few who will grace The Ageas Bowl, whilst Hugo Hammond, an England Disability Cricket International and more recently known for his appearance on 2021 Love Island is also selected.

Hampshire Cricket have already announced that club icons Sean Ervine and former captain Jimmy Adams have been selected for the Hampshire All-Star XI, with more club heroes to be added to the squad and announced next week.

The Charity T20 Double-Header Day on Saturday 28th August will begin with a T20 exhibition between the Lashings World XI versus the Hampshire All-Star XI at 10:30am, with the fixture is one of two games to played on the day, as The Ageas Bowl-based Southern Vipers return to their Charlotte Edwards T20 Cup campaign that afternoon, taking on South East Stars at 2:30pm.

The matchday is one of two events organised as part of an innovative new partnership with Hampshire Cricket Foundation becoming the official charity of Lashings World XI in 2021.

Tickets for the day are available to purchase at just £10 for Adults and £5 for U17s, with proceeds from ticket sales going to the NHS and Southampton Hospitals Charity to help support the construction of a new rehabilitation space at University Hospital Southampton's General Intensive Care Unit.

The Southern Vipers have been in stellar form this year in both Rachel Heyhoe Flint Trophy and Charlotte Edwards Cup campaigns. Take a look at the video below to see some of the Vipers' T20 highlights from this season so far.

The fundraising double-header is one of two events to underpin the partnership with a a Sir Gordon Greenidge Golf Day already hosted at The Ageas Bowl’s Boundary Lakes Golf Course last month.
