Hampshire host Essex in the final four-day fixture of the 2017 season at the The Ageas Bowl
Hampshire contest their final game at the The Ageas Bowl this season as George Bailey’s side host 2017 Champions Essex in the penultimate round of Specsavers County Championship fixtures, starting on Tuesday.
Hampshire Squad:
Hampshire have named a 13-man squad for the game, with Brad Wheal featuring alongside nine of the final XI that took to the field in last week’s rain-affected draw against Middlesex.
Captain George Bailey returns to the side after featuring for the World XI in their T20 series against Pakistan, whilst Liam Dawson is available after returning from international duty with England.
James Vince is also available after recovering from a hamstring injury picked up in the warm up before his side’s last four-day fixture.
The Opposition:
Essex were crowned Champions of Division One last week after an emphatic win against Warwickshire combined with Lancashire failing to beat Somerset at Taunton.
Ryan ten Doeschate’s side have performed impressively throughout this year’s campaign, winning eight of their 12 games so far this season. Both Jamie Porter and Simon Harmer have been crucial to their success, taking over 50 wickets apiece in the competition so far.
