England internationals Jofra Archer, James Vince, Danni Wyatt and Anya Shrubsole have officially been selected for the Southern Brave men’s and women’s teams respectively.

Joining England’s World Cup winning star Jofra Archer on the men’s team will be fellow World Cup winner and Hampshire captain James Vince, with both players joined by Chris Jordan who possesses plenty of international experience in white ball cricket. The players were selected in the first stage of The Hundred Men’s Draft, which culminates live on Sky, on 20th October.

The women’s team has also picked their first players, each announcing two of the centrally contracted England Women players in the first stage of the Player Selection Process. Playing alongside Anya Shrubsole will also be all-rounder, fellow World Cup winner and Southern Vipers star, Danni Wyatt. Hampshire Women captain Katie George has been selected by the Welsh Fire as their part of their England Women player allocation.

Also revealed is the identity and kit for Southern Brave, which will feature Pom Bear as its official KP Snacks Team Partner.

It’s already been a truly amazing year. Winning the World Cup and playing in my first Ashes series were such amazing highlights, and it’s now brilliant to be confirming my participation in The Hundred. I can’t wait to represent Southern Brave at the The Ageas Bowl, and ensure we have special first season next summer.

Jofra Archer

It is a real honour to be representing Southern Brave in a landmark new competition for 2020. There’s a lot of excitement in the women’s game about The Hundred and I’m expecting the standard of cricket to be very high across all eight teams.

I can’t wait to work under Charlotte Edwards and with Danni Wyatt on our team, there aren’t many teams that will fancy facing us!

Anya Shrubsole

The men’s team, based at The Ageas Bowl will go head-to-head with stars from seven other teams in the competition, including England Test captain Joe Root – who has joined Trent Rockets - and England white ball captain Eoin Morgan for London Spirit. Birmingham Phoenix will also face England’s star of the summer Ben Stokes in Northern Superchargers squad.

The women’s team, which will play at The 1st Central County Ground, Hove, will face off against England captain Heather Knight, skipper for London Spirit. Nat Sciver will join Trent Rockets, alongside Katherine Brunt, while Southern Brave will also face off against Sophie Ecclestone, the ICC’s Emerging Player of the Year for 2018, as she joins Manchester Originals.

The final stage of the The Hundred Draft is set to provide an historic first for British sport when it is staged on Sunday, October 20.  It will be broadcast live on Sky One and Sky Sports, with extensive coverage across the BBC.

The five-week competition will be played at the height of summer, starting July 2020, featuring eight new city-based teams from Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, Birmingham, Cardiff, Southampton and two in London (Lord’s and the Oval).
