Southern Vipers Announce Full Squad

Three-time ashes winner Arran Brindle leads the list

Former England International and three-time Ashes winner Arran Brindle leads the list as the Southern Vipers announce their full squad for the inaugural Kia Super League season.

The Ageas Bowl based Vipers have announced a playing squad of 15, compromising of three England players, three overseas players, three England Women’s Academy players and six players who have been selected through a county talent identification process.

England captain Charlotte Edwards, experienced batsman Lydia Greenway and young fast-bowler Natasha Farrant have already been announced alongside New Zealand captain Suzie Bates, White Ferns team-mate Sara McGlashan and Australian fast-bowler Megan Schutt.

Across a career spanning 15 years, all-rounder Arran Brindle amassed almost 3,000 runs and took 57 wickets for England and she will provide some valuable experience to the Vipers team.

We are really happy with our squad. We've got two international captains, loads of international experience all mixed in with exciting youthful talent. There are going to be selection headaches ahead for us and places up for grabs which will bring about some healthy competition within the squad. There have already been tough decisions made with very good domestic players missing out on squad places all over the country, but that only underlines how high the quality of this competition is going to be.

Nick Denning, Southern Vipers Head Coach

The Southern Vipers’ three England Women’s Academy players are Sussex Women’s pair Georgia Adams and Ellen Burt and Hampshire Women’s Katie George.

19-year old England Women’s Development Programme all-rounder Isabelle Collis is also named in the Vipers squad alongside Berkshire Women’s quartet Fi Morris, Carla Rudd, Alice MacLeod and Daisy Gardner, three of which are former England Academy players.
