T20 Overseas Moments: Afridi Blasts Hampshire To Finals Day

We're taking a trip down memory lane and re-visiting moments from some of Hampshire's most exciting overseas stars

Going into the last round of Vitality Blast South Group fixtures, a win against Somerset would've confirmed a home quarter-final for Hampshire in 2017. Sadly, it was a night to forget at the The Ageas Bowl meaning the home side had slipped into the South Group's third spot after Surrey had beaten Kent at the Oval.

A trip to the County Ground and a T20 Blast quarter-final against Derbyshire awaited as Hampshire looked to add yet another finals day their ever-growing white ball reputation.

To everyone's surprise, Shahid Afridi opened the batting for the first time in the competition and blasted 17 boundaries on his way to a remarkable century, scoring 101 from just 43 deliveries.

The Pakistani star struck 10 fours and 7 sixes as the away side posted 249-8 from their allotted overs, winning the game by 101 runs.

Afridi couldn't repeat his heroics at Edgbaston and Hampshire's quest for a third T20 trophy ended in the semi-final, losing out to Nottinghamshire by 22 runs.
