The Ageas Bowl to Turn Pink for Ladies Day

The iconic pavilion will be lit pink for breast cancer support centre in Hampshire

The Ageas Bowl is set to turn pink for Hampshire’s NatWest T20 Blast match against Glamorgan on Friday 3 July to raise money and increase awareness for a new breast cancer support centre in Hampshire due to open in October 2015.

As part of ‘Ladies Day’ at the home of Hampshire Cricket, the iconic pavilion and the new Hilton Southampton – The Ageas Bowl will be lit pink for the breast cancer support centre, which will be run by national charity, The Haven.

Young female cricketers from across the county will be taking part in the pre-match T20 Skills Challenge with ‘Ladies Day’ also dedicated to promoting women in sport. This comes a week after the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced that the first Women’s Cricket Super League will be launched next year.

On the day there will be a number of themed retailers onsite, including Wool and the Gang – a unique knitwear company, who have worked with some of the biggest fashion designers in the country.

There will also be exclusive offers available for all match attendees from the UK’s first Hilton eforea spa which includes eight treatment rooms, spa pool, salon and a nail bar at Hilton Southampton – The Ageas Bowl.

The Ageas Bowl Commercial Director, Stuart Robertson said: “We’re delighted to support The Haven for our Ladies Day – it’s a charity which is close to the hearts of a lot of people in the county.

Not only is this an excellent opportunity to raise a lot of money for a great cause, this also allows us to continue our on-going efforts to promote women in sport and in particular, their participation in cricket.

The Haven, who will soon have a centre in Titchfield, work closely with NHS partners to go beyond medical treatment, to help patients and their families cope with the wider impact of breast cancer through one-to-one personalised and specialist care.

We are thrilled that the The Ageas Bowl and Hampshire Cricket are supporting us at this exciting 'pink themed' match. Refurbishment at our centre is progressing well and we hope to be open to receive visitors in October this year.

Hampshire Cricket has such a huge following within our region and this opportunity will really help us to raise awareness of our new breast cancer support centre and will ensure that help will reach those that need it most once we are open.
